Walking School Bus

To promote healthy living, Deerwood School will be continuing with our Walking School Bus during the months of May & June.  A Walking School Bus is an active transportation system that involves teachers and parents walking with children around selected routes in the area.  The goal is to encourage a healthy lifestyle while getting students to school safely.   This year’s start date is Tuesday, May 22nd 2018.

On Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m., the route will start at the corner of Elk Bay & Deerwood Dr. and travel around Deerwood Dr. to Beaver Crescent and on to Deerwood School.

On Thursdays, at 8:30 a.m., the route will start at the corner of Greenway and Parkway Crescent (in front of 95 Parkway Cres), travel down Greenway Crescent to Thompson Drive, then Beaver Cres to Deerwood School.

We hope that students will come to the starting areas and walk the entire distance with the bus to enjoy the exercise, or join the bus as it passes by their house. Students walking with the bus will have their name entered into a draw for some great prizes.  Parents are more than welcome to join us for a little exercise in the morning. We hope you can hop on the bus!  Look for our bright yellow buses!  If you have any questions, please call Judd Desjardine at Deerwood School at 677-6125.  Thank-you!
